Make your mark this Mother’s Day, 14 March

Why not do something for or in memory of your mum this Mother’s Day?

  • Hold a sponsored family walk. This could be as small or as large as you like and could be anything from a spring-time stroll through your local park to a brisk walk around your local village or you could even hold it in the comfort of your own home and aim to walk around your garden 50 times in under an hour!
  • Make a donation to your Justgiving page instead of sending your mum flowers. The average bunch of flowers this mother’s day will cost around £20. Let your mum know that the £20 you donated to your Justgiving page could buy storage containers for the blood samples used in the ‘Breakthrough Generations Study’. These storage containers are vital in keeping the blood samples safe and in perfect condition for the next 40 years that the study will last. The  Generations Study is the UK’s largest and most comprehensive study into the causes of breast cancer and is taking place at the Breakthrough Research Centre in London’s Fulhum Road. The 100,000th woman to sign-up to the study was Sarah Brown. For more information visit: breakthroughgenerations.org.uk
  • Forfeit the restaurant for a delicious home-cooked meal for your mum and donate the money you save to TMW.  Ask your friends to do the same, letting them know that their donations will be funding our fight against breast cancer and helping to protect the future of the women we love.
  • Say it with flowers and hold a plant sale with items direct from yours or a generous friend’s garden. Why not approach your local garden centre for donations or discounts. For real flower power ask your local school if they would like to get involved, with children potting and planting and the parents buying!
  • Get creative & sell handmade Mother’s Day Cards to friends and colleagues.

1 in 9 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lifetime. These women are our mothers, daughters, friends and loved ones. Fundraise this Mother’s Day and your support will help save lives and change futures.
