UK breast cancer mortality rates fall
A report out yesterday, the 12th August, suggested that UK breast cancer mortality rates have fallen faster than in other European countries, and in particular countries such as France, Sweden and Finland.
Director of Policy at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Maggie Alexander commented:
“This is very positive news and a trend that we hope to see continue. Due to increased awareness, better screening and more effective treatments, the UK has seen a dramatic decrease in mortality rates.
However, breast cancer is still the most common cancer in the UK and there is still more to do to build a future free from the disease. That is why it is vital that we continue to invest in breast cancer research and services including breast screening.”
