Fashion Is …

Breakthrough’s Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign (FTBC) launched on Monday (the 11th) and this year the faces of the campaign are fashion icons Cat Deeley, Sadie Frost and Karen Gillan. The campaign will run for six weeks and aims to raise over £1million for Breakthrough.

FTBC is raising money by working with 8 UK retailers who all produce limited edition black and white products with each item carrying a 30% donation to Breakthrough.

To see the products on sale (there is a range of 25 products from M&S, Coast, Laura Ashley, My-wardrobe.com, Bottlegreen, Warehouse, Topshop, and River Island) take a look at one of the below sites:

Some Fashionable Fundraising Ideas:

1. Fashion Show
Ask a local boutique or store to lend you some clothes from their Spring/Summer collection. Or they might even like to organise one with you! Then ask some very good friends to be your models for the evening.  Are any of them good at hair and make-up too? Find a venue locally where you can hold your event, if the weather looks good, what about someone’s back garden? You can charge an entry fee and hold a raffle on the night.

2. Swishing Party
Have a look through your wardrobe and find things that you no longer want or like and ask your friends to do the same.  Invite people round for your “swishing party”. Refreshments can be served, with a donation to Too Many Women. Set up a space in your house where your friends can display their clothes and people simply swap their items and make a donation.

3. Car Boot
This simple age old English tradition could be good for your fundraising too! Have a good old spring clean and select any of those unwanted items which could raise a few pounds for the sale. Then find a local car boot that’s busy and convenient for you and donate the money you raise on the day to Too Many Women.
